Centre Sanctions Rs 531 Crore For 553 Solar Power Producers In Rajasthan

By Arun Dhital

The central government has cleared Central Financial Assistance (CFA) worth Rs 531 crore for 553 energy producers in Rajasthan who are aiding energy security by setting up solar power plants under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM scheme, a senior official of the energy department said.

“This amount will soon be disbursed into the bank accounts of the respective energy providers by the Ajmer and Jodhpur electricity distribution companies (Discoms),” he said.

Component-C primarily aims to solarise grid-connected agricultural pumps while letting farmers earn extra income by selling surplus power to Discoms.

Decentralised solar plants of up to 5 MW capacity are set up on barren land within a 5 km radius of a substation.

The official said the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has approved Rs 379.41 crore for 432 energy producers tied to the Jodhpur Discom, installing 429 MW of capacity, and Rs 151.21 crore for 121 producers linked to the Ajmer Discom, installing 169 MW.

He added that Rajasthan Discoms are extending full support to producers to ensure timely filing of CFA claims.
