Telengana shipped out ₹239 cr rice to Philippines

Telangana has exported 11,738 metric tonnes of rice worth Rs 239 crore in the last five years to the Philippines. Exporting sona masuri, samba masuri, HMT and steam rice varities, Telangana has become a major source of rice import for the US, Bangladesh, the UAE, the United Kingdom (UK) and Canada also.

In five years, state exported 2,211 MTs worth 38.11 crore to Bangladesh, 360 MTs worth 1.56 crore to UAE and 344 MTs worth 2 crore to UK. Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said state will get more links with global market at global rice traders summit on June 7-8 in Hyderabad.
