Telangana: Rice millers sound legal warning over baseless allegations

The Rice Millers Association of Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district on Wednesday denied allegations of irregularities and asserted that all rice mills were operating strictly in line with government norms while contributing effectively to the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Addressing a press conference in Kagaznagar, Association President Chiluveru Satyanarayana and Vice President Mailarapu Murali stated that mill operations, including the Custom Milling of Rice (CMR) supplied to the government, were being carried out in a transparent and accountable manner. They emphasised that due procedures were being followed at every stage to ensure compliance with official guidelines.

The association leaders expressed concern over what they termed as “false propaganda” targeting certain rice mill owners. They urged individuals and groups involved in spreading such claims to refrain from making baseless allegations, warning that legal action would be initiated if the misinformation campaign continued.

Clarifying the operational process, they stated that paddy supplied by the government was being converted into rice strictly in accordance with prescribed norms under the CMR system. They underlined that the industry was functioning with integrity and maintained that there was no scope for corruption or malpractice.

The leaders further noted that all government directives were being implemented diligently and that assigned targets were consistently being met. They described the allegations as deliberate attempts to tarnish the image of rice mill operators and mislead the public.

Several association members, including Garrepalli Gopal, Gajjela Suresh, T. Venkataramana, T. Kishore and Amjad, were also present at the press conference.
