Argentina hikes biofuel prices for domestic market

The Argentine government has raised biofuel prices for mandatory blending with fossil fuel in the domestic market, according to resolutions published on the official gazette on Monday.

The Energy Secretariat set the minimum price of sugarcane-based bioethanol at 918.025 pesos ($0.65) per liter, up from the previous 891.286 pesos per liter.

Meanwhile, the minimum price of corn-based ethanol rose 841.394 pesos per liter, compared with the previous 816.887 pesos.

The price of biodiesel for mandatory blending with diesel was set at 1,688,961 pesos per metric ton, up from the previous 1,590,832 pesos.

The changes take effect from the date of publication and will remain in effect until a new price is published.

Argentina is a major producer of biofuels, particularly biodiesel. It regularly raises prices for the domestic market.
