Haryana: Four officials dismissed in paddy embezzlement case

The Haryana Food Civil Supplies Department has dismissed four staffers over alleged involvement in a paddy embezzlement case in Yamunanagar district.
Director General Anshaj Singh ordered the action on March 17 against Assistant Food and Civil Supplies Officer Devinder Kumar and inspectors Vinod Kumar, Manoj Kumar Yadav and Savita.District Controller Nitish Kumar Singla said the officials were found guilty of “serious negligence” in inspection of paddy arrivals, storage and stock reconciliation.
Physical verification revealed a shortage of 16,110 MT of paddy in rice mills at Pratap Nagar, Ranjeet Pur and Chhachhrauli, causing an estimated loss of Rs 41.89 crore to the government.
Earlier, the department and Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation had registered three FIRs in November 2025 against rice miller Sandeep Singla and his wife over shortages in seven mills.
On directions of SP Kamaldeep Goyal, an SIT is probing the case. The team has arrested Sandeep Singla and a senior HAFED officer.
Records show 6.75 lakh MT of paddy was procured in Yamunanagar till November 15, 2025, compared to 6.09 lakh MT last year.
