Gondia Rice Mill Scam: Crooks Flee with ₹1 Crore
In a daring fraud, five swindlers duped a Gondia rice miller of Rs1 crore, by promising ten containers of rice at a bargain price. The scam unravelled when the accused, after pocketing the cash, vanished without delivering the goods.
Following the miller’s complaint, Gondia city police arrested one suspect, Radheshyam Dhurve from Chhindwada, while intensifying the hunt for the remaining four, including a woman currently hospitalised and under questioning. The accused had lured the miller with a too-good-to-be-true deal, exploiting trust in the region’s rice trade hub.
Police are probing the syndicate’s operations, suspecting a broader network targeting local businesses.
