Disciplinary action in spoilt rice issue

The state government has taken cogni-sance of complaints of infested and spoiled foodgrains supplied to fair price shops (FPS) and beneficiaries in Salcete and Mormugao talukaa.


Memoranda were issued by the department civil supplies and consumers affairs to the inspector-in-charge and the godown-in-charge of Salcete and Mormugao talukas seeking their explanation.

“Based on the preliminary findings, disciplinary proceedings under CCS & CCA Rules, 1965, have commenced against the inspectors and godown-in-charges of Salcete and Mormugao talukas. It is also decided to take action against the appointed agency, who failed to address the preservation requirements in Salcete and Mormugao taluka godowns situated at Cortalim, Goa,” a statement issued by the department of information and publicity read. Photos of maggot-infested rice distributed by fair price shops in Vasco went viral on social media.
