Tamil Nadu: 5 rice mills booked for faking brandTamil Nadu:

Trichy district police on Friday booked five rice mills under the copyright and trade marks Acts for selling the imitation of a patented rice brand of Karnataka from their mills in Manapparai.

R Chakravarthi Manjukonda, 29, from Nalkonda in Telangana, runs a rice brand called Sri Nawab Akshya Ponni based out of Karnataka. The name was patented under the copyright Act 1957. In a complaint lodged by him with Manapparai police, he said he came to know that rice was being sold illegally under this brand name by Sri Murugan modern rice mill, Sri Vadamalaiyan modern rice mill, Ezhumalaiyan modern rice mill, Sri Vayalur Murugan modern rice mill and Sri Muniyappan modern rice mill, all situated on Viralimalai road in Manapparai.

Saying that his company was not supplying rice to them, he said the rice mills were selling the fake brand of his patented brand.
